Digital Berms
Containment berms are sterile material structures within the pit that seek to contain a deviation in the logical trajectory of the CAEX in case they fail mechanically and/or their operator makes an improper maneuver. These berms must comply with a standard established by the regulatory entity (Sernageomin in Chile) and must be properly maintained to prevent their erosion and deterioration. The digital berms tool seeks to anticipate the decay of the berms with a window of more than two weeks through a predictive and prescriptive algorithm.
01. Benefits
- Traceability and Integrated Digital Process Vision
- Improve Continuity / Cycle Times
- Prioritize based on automatic criteria
- Predict deterioration curves
- Improve response times of Mine Services team
- Centralized digital repository for audits
- Operation Safety
02. Solution
Collection and processing of historical information
Allows measuring online information from scanner measurements and comparing daily with images and points.
Wear Prediction
Estimate the level of wear of the berms through a predictive and prescriptive algorithm that uses historical information on height and traffic (through the data of the FMS used), to improve planning and prioritization.
Required Capacity Model
Allows obtaining historical entry/exit rates of berms by zone and additionally defining goals, work times, and necessary resources.
Online review of berm information by Geotechnics
Once the execution of the OT or OS is verified, it will be available for Geotechnics to close and/or give comments. Thus, the workflow between Mine areas is also digitized.
Monitoring and Control
Verification of OT or OS closure with images and georeferencing. With this, the risk management capacity increases during the shift.
Model Validation
Generation of a random list of segments to be verified periodically, also includes a list of gray areas of greater relevance based on nearby traffic. In addition to this, the characteristic elements of the pit are loaded into the model, and for each of these elements, a field team (drone and/or geosensor) conducts inspections taking measurements that are then compared with those inferred by the model. With this, it is sought to increase the reliability of the Model.
